Part 3 at Mastery Level
At CLB 11–12, Part 3 should be a reliable perfect score. The data-matching nature of this part makes it one of the most consistent sections to ace — if your indexing method is solid.
Your goal: 9/9 in 9 minutes or less, with saved time going to Part 4. Part 3's labeled structure makes it uniquely suited for systematic approaches.
Speed Indexing
At mastery level, your initial read does double duty — you comprehend AND index simultaneously:
1. Read each section at full speed (you can process ~250 words per minute accurately) 2. As you finish each section, mentally tag it: "A = community programs, features: ages 6–12, free, summer only" 3. By the time you've read all five sections (~2.5 minutes), you have a complete mental database
The difference from CLB 10: You don't need a separate indexing step. Your reading IS your indexing. This saves 30–60 seconds.
Instant Recall Matching
With a strong index, most questions can be answered before looking back at the text:
1. Read the question 2. Your index immediately suggests the right section 3. Verify by re-checking the specific sentence (5–10 seconds) 4. Confirm and move on
For the rare question where your index doesn't immediately point to the answer, use the elimination method: mentally cross off sections where the answer clearly couldn't be, then check the remaining 1–2 sections.
Target: under 45 seconds per question, including verification.
Systematic Verification for 9/9
Even at mastery level, verify every answer. The cost of verification (10 seconds) is trivial; the cost of losing a mark is significant.
Quick verification checklist: 1. The section I chose actually makes this specific claim (not just a related one) 2. No other section makes a more direct or precise version of this claim 3. The scope words match (ages, quantities, conditions)
Time budget at CLB 11–12: - 2.5 min: Read and index - 5.5 min: Answer 9 questions with verification - 1 min: Final review - Saved: 1+ minutes for Part 4
