Part 2 at CLB 10
Part 2 is your safety net. At CLB 10, 8 out of 8 is non-negotiable. This is the most concrete, verifiable part โ answers are factual, not inferential. If you lose a mark here, it's from a careless oversight, not a comprehension gap.
The key is a zero-error verification system where speed isn't the constraint โ precision is.
The Three-Layer Verification
For every answer in Part 2:
Layer 1 โ Data match: Point to the exact cell, row, or section in the diagram that contains your answer. If you can't point to it, your answer may be wrong.
Layer 2 โ Condition overlay: Check if any condition from the email modifies the diagram data. Dates, quantities, special circumstances mentioned in the email can change which row/column applies.
Layer 3 โ Question alignment: Re-read the question one more time. Does your answer address the exact thing asked? A question asking "the cheapest option" requires comparing ALL options โ not just finding one that's cheap.
This protocol takes ~10โ15 seconds per question but eliminates 100% of careless errors.
Complex Multi-Step Lookups
CLB 10 Part 2 questions may require 3โ4 steps:
1. Find a date in the email โ determine which season applies 2. Look up the season in the diagram โ find the base price 3. Check for an exception โ apply a discount or surcharge 4. Compare with another option mentioned โ choose the correct one
The key: Don't try to do all steps in your head. Go step by step, verifying each piece of data against the source before moving to the next step.
Time Banking Strategy
At CLB 10, finish Part 2 in 7 minutes or less. Bank the extra 2 minutes for Part 4.
- 45 seconds: Scan diagram + note all exceptions - 90 seconds: Read email/text - 4 minutes: Answer all 8 questions with triple verification - Remaining: Banked for later parts
Part 2 is where you earn time for the parts that actually challenge you. Treat it as a speed round with a verification safety net.
