What CRS score do I need for Express Entry?

Updated: 2026-04-04

General draws vs. category-based draws

IRCC runs two types of draws: general draws (all candidates compete) and category-specific draws (e.g., French, STEM, healthcare, trades). General draws typically require 475–520 CRS. Category draws often have lower cutoffs — some STEM or French draws have been in the 430–470 range.

Recent draw thresholds (2024–2025)

General draws: 480–510. French-language draws: 365–410. Healthcare draws: 430–470. STEM draws: 481–500. These fluctuate with pool composition and IRCC quotas. There is no fixed 'passing' CRS score.

How to position yourself

Focus on factors you can control: CELPIP score (language points + transferability unlock), French as a second language (adds 25–50 pts), obtaining a Canadian job offer (50–200 pts), and a provincial nomination (+600 pts guaranteed invite). Check IRCC's latest draw results to see the current cutoff trend.
