What Is Part 7?

Part 7 asks you to express your opinion on a topic (education, technology, lifestyle, social issues). You get 30 seconds to prepare and 90 seconds to respond โ€” the longest response time in the exam.

90 seconds is a LOT of time. Without structure, you'll ramble, repeat yourself, or freeze. With structure, you'll sound like a confident speaker giving a polished opinion.

The 3-Reason Framework

Opening โ€” State Opinion (15 seconds): "In my opinion, [your stance]. I feel very strongly about this for several important reasons."

Reason 1 + Example (25 seconds): "First and foremost, [reason 1]. For example, [specific example or explanation]."

Reason 2 + Example (25 seconds): "In addition to that, [reason 2]. This is particularly important because [explanation]."

Reason 3 + Example (15 seconds): "Furthermore, [reason 3], which cannot be overlooked."

Conclusion (10 seconds): "For all of these reasons, I firmly believe that [restate opinion]. I think this is an issue that deserves more attention in our society."

3 reasons + examples = 90 seconds filled with organized content.

Opinion Phrases Power Pack

High-scoring phrases for expressing opinions:

Strong agreement: - "I couldn't agree more with the idea that..." - "I am a firm believer in..." - "There is absolutely no question in my mind that..."

Strong disagreement: - "I respectfully but firmly disagree with..." - "I find it hard to accept the notion that..." - "I am strongly opposed to this idea because..."

Balanced view: - "While I see the merits of both sides, I lean toward..." - "It's a nuanced issue, but ultimately I believe..." - "Having considered various perspectives, my position is..."

Hedging when uncertain: - "I tend to think that..." - "On balance, I would argue that..." - "If I had to choose, I would say..."

Mix strong and hedged phrases to sound both confident AND thoughtful.

Fill 90 Seconds Without Repeating

The 90-second trap is saying the same thing three ways. Avoid it:

Bad: "I think exercise is important. It's very important to exercise. People should exercise because it's important."

Good: "I think regular physical activity is essential for maintaining good health. Studies have shown that even 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease. Beyond the physical benefits, there's also a strong connection between exercise and mental well-being."

The rule: Each sentence must add NEW information โ€” a new reason, a new example, or a new angle. If you've run out of new points at 70 seconds, wrap up with a strong conclusion rather than repeating.
