Part 1 at Mastery
At CLB 11–12, Part 1 is effortless. You read the scenario, and the advice constructs itself in your mind within seconds. Your 30-second prep is almost unnecessary — you could speak immediately and still deliver a polished response.
The Natural Response
At mastery level, your response sounds like you're genuinely helping a friend:
- Authentic tone — not scripted or academic - Real-world specific — details that show you've lived this kind of situation - Dynamic pacing — faster when enthusiastic, slower when making a key point - Humor if appropriate — a light touch shows confidence
This is the difference: CLB 9–10 sounds like a well-prepared speaker. CLB 11–12 sounds like a person having a real conversation.
Energy Management
Part 1 is your warm-up. Speak naturally and save analytical energy for the harder parts (5, 6, 7). Score well here with minimal effort, and carry positive momentum forward.
