Use re-evaluation when
You have one unexpectedly low section that conflicts with recent performance and that single score blocks your application target.
Choose retake when
Two or more sections are below target, or you are time-constrained. A retake with targeted prep usually gives better control and faster recovery.
Practical rule
If your next deadline is close, prioritize a retake plan. If your profile is otherwise strong and only one section is anomalous, re-evaluation can be reasonable.
